Tasmanian Mental Health Directory: Custom Web Case Study
The Tasmanian Mental Health Directory helps people "search for trusted mental health professionals across Hobart, Launceston, and beyond", and lets clinicians list a practice for free. We built it as a custom web application: a searchable directory with filters by professional role, clinician listings and logins, crisis support and resource pages, and paid featured listings.
The Challenge
A directory has two audiences. People looking for help need to find the right kind of professional near them, often while stressed, and see where to go in a crisis. Clinicians need a simple way to list and manage a practice. The site has to serve both from the same pages.
Our Approach
- •Built as a custom JavaScript web application rather than on a page builder, so search and filtering run in the browser.
- •Visitors can filter clinicians by keyword, listing type (individual or practice) and professional role, from GPs and psychologists to peer support workers.
- •Crisis support and a safety plan have their own page, linked from the main menu.
- •Clinicians list a practice for free through "Get Listed", have their own lister login, and can choose a featured listing plan; administrators have a separate login.
The Results
- ✓The directory is live today. We did not measure search times, usage or accessibility for this project, so no results are claimed.
